Gomish Tappeh
The silver hill
The Land of men, Horses & Rugs
In Turkmen language, Gomish Tapphe means the silver hill. It is believed that it is a place where in ancient times lots of silver coins were discovered and excavated. There is a nice village on the hillside which is now considered as a thriving town.
The people living there are all Turkmen, working on land or herding cattle. Because of seasonal rainfalls the architecture of the rural houses in the area is very special.
The old houses are made of timbers with tin roofs. The pictures of the village were taken in 1979.
